Tyra Banks may have encountered several tumultuous “achievements” in ‘America’s Next Top Model’, but it never ceased to shatter her potential. At least, she was always taken seriously by her Vogue pal: Andre Leon Talley.

It turns out that Tyra Banks eventually made her breakthrough in fashion industry. At a New York City breakfast event, Talley confessed that Banks approached him with an offer. “She wanted me to join her crew and I was like, ‘Whaaaaaaaaaaaaa’, the same way one of those hobos say”, chuckled Talley.

At that point, Banks’s offer was politely refused. She understood and moved on, never failing to struggle for her career. Finally, she made it to the cover of Vogue Italia, with an exclusive article. Talley said that Tyra Banks has worked her As* off to get her cycle on this level. It is a perfect fit for her now and sometimes, it is better to start late than never.

When Tyra was asked about the impact of the Italian Vogue relationship on her, she said, “I just started this show to be for the masses. I normally cast 15 year old girls, who want to be a part of this big industry, who have dreams and they come from where I do. Those girls are ready to dig in harder and come up with something more than just signs of potential for a big career.”

'Top Model'

The show steps up to high fashion with the editor of the prestigious magazine as a judge. The magazine hopes to gain readers at its bilingual new website.
The lineup of guest judges on the new season of “America’s Next Top Model” may not mean much to the average viewer.

But in the fashion world, Patrick Demarchelier and Matthew Rolston need no introduction. And fashionistas know why the sought-after photographers decided to climb aboard the reality modeling competition in its 15th cycle, which premieres Sept. 8.

Two words: Italian Vogue.

The magazine, considered the most prestigious fashion publication in the world, has partnered with the CW show for the first time. Its powerful editor, Franca Sozzani, will appear on the program as a judge, and the winner will be featured in a six- to eight-page spread in the magazine early next year, as well as in an additional spread and cover of its May 2011 supplement, Beauty in Vogue.

That has given a reenergizing jolt to the program, whose past winners were featured on the covers of Marie Claire, Jane, Elle and most recently, Seventeen.

After a ho-hum previous round, Tyra Banks aims to “raise the bar” with cycle 15. She succeeds: The latest pretties (admittedly, the usual bunch of snoots and crybabies) vie for a fashion spread in Italian Vogue! Plus, their posing tasks are emotionally compelling (next week, they’re body painted with positive and negative words they’ve been called). Add in expert guest judges (Zac Posen), and this is one chic Model.
