Suzanne Collin’s teen series, The Hunger Games, has another celebrity fan—none other than Tyra Banks! The Hunger Games and Catching Fire are centered around the annual “hunger games,” where 24 teenagers are chosen to fight to death, on live TV, while Mockingjay, the last book in the trilogy focuses on the horrors of war—pretty adult topics for a series marketed at youngsters.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Tyra Banks tweeted that she just finished Catching Fire, the second book in the dystopian trilogy, calling the novel, “Soooooo good!!!” Tyra’s not the only celebrity who has taken a liking to The Hunger Games. Other fans include Kristen Bell, John Gallagher Jr., Melinda Doolittle and Elizabeth Banks, who recently tweeted, ““MOCKINGJAY!!! Clearing three days of my life to devour this book. 3rd in Hunger Games trilogy. Read these!”

So why are all these stars such fans of a young adult book series? The answer’s simple—The Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mockingjay, are fast-paced and compelling reads And Katniss Everdeen, the protagonist and heroine of the series, is a strong-willed, likeable young woman, who despite only being a teenager, is wise beyond her years.

Tyra Banks, supermodel-turned-TV personality, has been granted a temporary restraining order against her alleged stalker Marten Williams Jr.

Banks claims that Williams Jr. has been “targeting and harassing,” the star and members of her family for four years.

In Banks documents, filed by her lawyer Evan Spiegel in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Banks stated: “I am in fear from Mr. Williams for my personal safety, and that of those around me, including my family and employees.”

The supermodel also alleged that 39-year-old Williams has a history of mental illness and believes he “killed George Bush Jr and that Michael Jackson is alive and living in Long Beach”. Banks went on to claim that he also has left “ominous frightening letters and items,” including a note referencing a future wedding ceremony between the two, in her home.

Williams was ordered to stay at least a 100 yards away from Banks and her family until October 28, when another hearing will decide if it will become permanent. He was also arrested for trespassing at Banks’ Beverly Hills home earlier this month.

Supermodel-turned-TV personality TYRA BANKS has been named in a $3 million (£2 million) lawsuit filed against the producers of her talk show after a teenage “sex addict” appeared on the programme without her mother’s consent.

Georgia resident Beverly MCClendon filed suit in an Atlanta federal court earlier this month (Oct10), claiming Banks, alongside Warner Bros. executives and producers of The Tyra Banks Show failed to secure legal permission to air the story of her 15-year-old daughter Jewel Ciera Washington during an episode about sex addiction.

The teenager responded to an open call on the show’s website for self-proclaimed sex addicts in October 2009. She was invited to appear as a guest and was flown alone to New York in November 2009. She also claims to have been paid to tell her story.

But MCClendon insists TV producers should have alerted her to their plans to feature the girl on the programme and violated Georgia state labour laws by failing to do so.

In the legal papers, she also objects to the show being promoted as featuring a “15-year-old sex addict”, insisting the tag line would have attracted unwanted attention from “sexual deviants, perverts and paedophiles alike”.

MCClendon is suing on the grounds of negligence and is asking for an injunction against airing any future repeats of the episode, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
